ABOUT PIKE PLACE CHOWDER
Pike Place Chowder is a twenty seat, quick-service
restaurant with additional outdoor patio seating,
located on Post Alley in historic Pike Place Market. Our
menu consists of eight outstanding made in-house chowders,
sandwich rolls, and salads- with both side and entree versions available. Our clam chowder has won
first-place awards everywhere in the country and may be
the only chowder to have accomplished this fete on both
coasts. Our chowder is a member of the "Great Chowder
Cook-off," Hall of Fame in Newport Rhode Island after
winning this event picking the "Nation's Best Clam
Chowder" in 2000, 2001 & 2002.

We are understandably very proud of our "New England" Clam
Chowder,
but our other chowders are equally outstanding. Next
in line in
popularity is our Seafood Bisque. This chowder is made from
fresh local
salmon and halibut, calamari and bay shrimp and is prepared in
our tomato,
basil, cream broth. Our Smoked Salmon Chowder is also very
popular and
prepared with capers and cream cheese. For those wanting a
chowder a little
lighter in calories we offer two chowders prepared without any
milk or
cream. Our Manhattan Clam Chowder is made with chopped Ocean
Clams in a
tomato, onion and celery broth and our Crab and Shrimp Clear
Chowder made
with shellfish stock, corn and assorted vegetables. We also
offer a non
seafood chowder our Southwestern Chicken and Corn Chowder.
This is our
"inland" chowder spiced with a southwestern flair. We are
constantly working
up new chowder recipes. Two recent additions to our menu are
our Island
Harvest Chowder, made with all local ingredients fresh out of
Pike Place
Market. "In the shell" clams and mussels, salmon, scallops and
market
vegetables in a creamy shellfish broth. Secondly, our Seared
Scallop Chowder
made with fresh from the market scallops in a creamy broth
with fresh dill.
If you are not in the mood for chowder we also offer sandwich
rolls and
entree salads. We have created Seattle's original Dungeness
Crab Roll. It is
a direct "knock-off" of the New England delicacy the Lobster
Roll. Lobster
is not indigenous
to this area but Dungeness Crab is. It is the
sweetest most
flavorful crab meat around and makes for a great sandwich
roll. We use a
baguette instead of the more traditional hot dog bun used
throughout New
England but a great sandwich none-the-less.

All of our food is available for dining in or to be taken out.
We also
have chowder in convenient quart and one-half gallon sized
containers to be
taken home for dinner, packaged for travel or to be shipped.

We are open from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM daily, except
Thanksgiving,
Christmas, New Years Day and Easter when we are closed for
business.
